EPA Ozone Research Study Finds that Ozone Kills Deadly
A U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the U.S. Homeland Security Agency
research study reported that ozone fumigation killed deadly Anthrax spores.
read the study results.
Here is the key report conclusion on the effectiveness of ozone killing
6.2 Ozone Fumigation
Ozone fumigation (9000 ppmv) at 22 °C and 85% RH resulted in no viable B.
anthracis spores being recovered from glass or wood following contact
times of 4, 6, or 8 hr (log reductions were >6.0). At 22 °C and 75% RH,
B. anthracis spores were generally recovered from glass and wood
following contact times of 4, 6, or 8 hr (>1 x 103 CFU recovered with
associated log reductions ranging from 1.8 to 4.8); the only exception was
B. anthracis spores not being recovered from wood when exposed to
9000 ppmv ozone at 22 °C and 75% RH for 8 hr (log reduction of 7.7). Ozone
fumigation did not cause visible damage to glass or wood when exposed for up
to 8 hr of 9000 ppmv ozone.
